The artist Laura Moriarty created these geode/ rock sculptures from beeswax. She makes the sculptures by heating the beeswax and pouring it to resemble sedimentary rock or molten lava. Laura is a self taught sculptor since 1992, who was born in Beacon New York. I find Laura's work incredibly interesting, she plays with color and heat to resemble something found in nature. The material is also fascinating because she allows it to form and mold into random creations, rather than intensely meticulously forming patterns. Laura's use of material to reflect nature and her care free nature of her work really drew me too the pieces i found above.
