Explain your process from start to finish.
When I was first assigned this project I had a hard time coming up with an idea that was not cliché. When picking Scissors I tried to come up with what was an opposite to that object, in this case the opposites were sharp and soft. I decided to make the flowers out of crepe paper and tissue paper with wire insides, some of the flowers have twisted tissue paper centers while others have cotton centers. I then glued the flowers straight onto the scissors, and others I wrapped onto the scissors with the wire. Overall I feel the piece looks like how i intended, the flowers look decently realistic, and hide the scissors well. The scissors are also still functional because i didn't glue or tape the hinge part of the scissors together.
Why did you pick the object you did and why did you convert it the way you did? What inspired you?
I picked scissors because I wanted an object that wasn't typical. I also wanted to pick something that was a smaller size. After much deliberation I also concluded that dollar store scissors would be easier to find than an antique lamp or old appliance. I also decided to use scissors because the sharpness contradicts the soft crepe paper. I was inspired by the material I found and the concept of opposites.
