I develope my art making skills
During this project I became more familiar with how to manipulate print making tools and processes. I quickly learned the many risks and consequences to making mistakes while doing printmaking for example if a singular piece of the print is cut at a stage before its proper planned cut time it would change the outcome of your coloring of the print. Over all while learning this new art form i learned patience as well because when printmaking is accomplished the artist has to wait each day for the last color has dried before completing the next color. I also learned how to line up prints which proved more difficult than any other part of this project. I had done a previous project of printmaking that was much more simple than this one, so by pushing myself and doing a subject that interested me i was able to familiarize myself with new skills and develop techniques for printmaking in my future.
I take risks
Throughout this project I took many risks. Some of the risks included choice of color, number of colors, and subject matter. By picking the subject that i did, I had to apply a lot of detail to the foreground specifically the blacklines that show texture in the grass. As i continued on through the project i quickly learned that small details like this are extremely difficult to accomplish cleanly and straight every time a new color was added. I also decided to try some ideas with this project that i wasn't completely sure was going to work. For example i added orange color to the grass in patches that accented and off set the green color of the grass, as well i chose shades of colors that i wasn't fully intending to use but by deciding to take these risks i feel my piece turned out decent. I also am not fully versed in the art of Printmaking so for me it felt like a risk when i was making decisions on what steps do complete next in the process. Due to the sometimes disappointing outcomes of prints when they are not lined up correctly or cut unintentionally i felt as though i was risking the project with every step i completed in the process.
I reflect
I stepped back and looked at this project many times. I contemplated the use of black paper, the use of orange ink, the amount of detail in the foreground, and the topic of the print itself. By stepping back and looking at this project i could deduce better routes to work from and i could conclude better decisions on the most optimal print. After completing these tasks within the print i would step back and analyze them each time i would complete one. overall i looked at my prints with different insight every time i approached them. I also considered many ideas before i tried them just to eliminate the chance of an unwanted out come. Over all this Print making piece was full of full reflection and planning to enhance the idea of the subject matter. I really enjoyed this piece and i would love to continue making prints in my future art career.
